What was your approach to making a remix for this track and why?
For all my remix work, I do have a formula which is consistent. First I listen to the original version multiple times, then I figure out what direction I want to go with the remix. I prep the stems and carefully choose the ones I want to use. I just mess slightly with the original melody or hook of the original version. I add 1 or 2 instruments the most, which are never prominent, but then I completely rework the percussion. I’m super addicted to groove and loud hit hats, so the drums always stand out in my remixes or own productions.
How did you get the opportunity to remix? What was your initial thought about the EP?
I was approached to do the remix more than a year ago. When I knew it was for Kamilo Sanclemente I immediately said yes, before I even heard the track! His reputation speaks for itself, when I heard the track I was blown away as with all of his music. I done the remix right away so i would have enough time to test it in my sets before the release.
What is that 1 quality or skill of Kamilo that you would like one for yourself?
He is consistent with quality, and always evolving at the same time. Every track he releases or remix he does, works like magic on the dance floor!
How about an EP with Transensations?
An EP for Transensations is certainly something I would consider to do in the near future, as the label has always been one of my most favourites, and I also have a fantastic relationship with the crew that run it.
Anything in the pipeline?
Right now I have productions & remixes coming out back to back, all the work I’ve done in the studio during Covid days is coming alive. Till the end of the year I will pause music production, as I just restarted to do my own events regularly in Malta, and in between I’ll be touring and Dj’ing non-stop.
An instrument or device that has been monumental in this EP? And why?
Definitely the synth hook & the sequence loop Kamilo wrote for this track! A beautiful melody that sticks on to your memory.
