Ticket to Bombay - Groovepool Digs Up a Page From His Personal Diary for This EP

What is the inspiration behind this EP? How did you come up with the name?

First of all i would like to thank you for premiering my track Montreal to Mumbai. It really means a lot for my first release to be featured on the platform that I’ve been loving for quite a while now. One thing that really inspired me was spending time in nature and hiking when I was living in Canada. I sent these tracks to Dom (Madloch) during my move from Canada to India earlier this year. Hence the name Montreal to Mumbai. My move from Canada was a bittersweet moment and the breakdown of the track really hits that feel.

How did you overcome challenges to this EP? If there were any.

One of the biggest challenges was not being confident about the tracks I made. Thinking they are not up to the standard that I want. But this year I decided I want to send some of my completed tracks to the labels.  I first sent 21F to Jordan (Joca) who is A&R for Sound Avenue group, he instantly loved the flow of the track and complimented how good it was and insisted I send this track to Dom. That really motivated me and gave me some confidence about my other tracks and I included 2 more tracks for the EP which is now coming out on 11th July.

Tell us what has been the inspiration behind the track “Montreal to Mumbai”?

I have always been inspired by beautiful chord progressions, that's how I started working on Montreal to Mumbai. That progression was very uplifting which was then layered with some choppy vocals and pads during the breakdown. I wanted the focus to stay on the chords and pads for the feels contrary to the beats and grooves so I decided to give a breakbeat instead of  4 x 4. I think it really worked well on this track.

How did you decide on the label who releases your music?

Some of my favorite artists have releases on Sound Avenue and other sister labels and I have many tracks from them which I use in my mix. Always great organic and progressive house music. It was my first time releasing a track and with help of Jordan, I’m very happy to see my first EP release on the label I’ve looked up to for many years now.

How did you find match in this label where your EP is releasing

Like I mentioned, I’ve used many tracks from this label in my mixes and our style of music really matches. So it was an easy yes to send these tracks across to 3rd Avenue.

An instrument or device that has been monumental in this EP? And why?

Serum is something I used the most for everything in my tracks. Bass, synth, pads are all made with Serum. Very versatile plugin and easy to use. Watched lots of tutorials from Downden which really helped me learn and make the most use of serum.

BRC thanks Groove Pool for this opportunity to premiere one of his releases. Also thank you to everyone who supported hiss track 'Montreal To Mumbai' in any manner they could.
