What made you create this label? Why? What is the idea and inspiration behind it?
I wanted to have music nobody else had. I wanted to discover new gems and help new artists. Creating a little family with nice people, nice music and all the same drive. Not focusing to much on the bigger artists.
How long had the idea of a label been on your minds before its official launch?
I think the idea started a really long time ago. Maybe 20 years already. One of the challenges where to come up with the right name. I think it took more than a year. But in the end it feels so like me and what I try to do all my life.
What is the inspiration behind the logo and artwork?
Artwork is for me really important, so it has to become something between art what you can put on your wall and a record artwork.
What genre of music the label hosts and what do you look for specifically in a track that gives you that sense of belonging in a track to release it on your platform?
Melodic Techno is what we love and what we believe in. We really looking for something special in a track. Something what you remember after hearing the track.
In terms of demos, how do you accept, review and reject from all the thousands you receive? What are the challenges in sifting through the boatload of demos you receive for releases and the communication you maintain with aspirants?
We try to listen to everything. But only Soundcloud links. We don't have time to answer all the demos, so only the ones who are really outstanding get our attention or when we see people really spend time on. With the artists who stick with the label I have a good connection and most of them I speak to on a weekly basis.
How many VA and compilations do you release in a year and what kind of tracks you choose? What kind of artists do you select for the VA? Basically what purpose does a VA serve to a label?
I'm not a big fan of VA's because most of the times they are with a lot of tracks, and the artists don't get the right attention. But we do one VA: Wild Cards. With max 5 tracks on there. I always like to introduce new artist this way. There is not really a time schedule for this. When it's almost full I look for a date. The new one is coming 2nd of September
Which one has been a highlight release and why?
Beyond Us is doing really great this summer. It's the first collaboration between me and Joey White who is also part of the team now. Sometimes it really connects with someone musical. Our new EP is coming out August 12th.
What do you expect from new talent when you sign them? What makes you reject them from releasing on your label?
I always hope to not only release 1 track from someone, that's also why all new artists will release on the Wild Cards first. Most artists don't send anything more when they have signed something. So only the people who really supporting the label will stay and I like that. Just work with a small group of artists and help them where I can. That's also why I did a lot of collaborations the last couple years.
What are the challenges in promoting music to corners of the world where you may not be as popular as in your home country.
If the music is good enough it will come everywhere. Challenges are always in marketing with the all time changes from the social medias. But we try to stay on top of this. We got a lot of support from the bigger artists who help bring the music to the other side of the world
